Guidelines for Giving
Association of Physicians of Pakistani-Descent of North America (APPNA) provides financial support through its grant application process to organizations providing service in three major areas of focus outlined in its Constitution. These areas are Scientific Development and Education in the field of medicine, Delivery of Better Health Care, Medical Relief and other charitable activities. Wherever possible, APPNA believes that contributions should be programmatic in nature and focus, and the benefits of the program should be detailed, quantifiable and included as part of the grant application process.
All grant applications are to be submitted to the APPNA Central Office, located t 6414 S. Cass Avenue, Westmont, IL 60559, United States for review and should include the following:

- A Copy of 501-c-3 letter confirming not-for-profit status – NGOs registered out of United States must provide equivalent document.
- A Letter requesting funding from APPNA which should include a brief background of the organization and a history of its programs .
- Listing of Board Members and Officers of the Organization (Governing Board) and their affiliations.
Description of program for which the organization seeks funding including objectives of the program, the needs of the community to be filled, a timetable of the program, and the scope of services to be provided by the effort being funded. Additionally, the financial requirements (budget) and any other funding sources realized should be provided.
Program Grants
Organizations may apply for full or partial funding of a particular program. APPNA supports organizations and programs that improve the lives of communities both in Pakistan and United States. Special consideration is given to programs which support low- to moderate-income individuals by providing services, training, education which improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for advancement. APPNA has an interest in providing support to fund collaborative programs and programs which bring new dollars into the community. Grants are not typically made for general operating efforts or to create endowments.
Eligibility Requirements
Programs must serve residents of communities living in Pakistan or United States.
Organizations must be tax exempt under IRS code 501-c-3 or a foreign NGO.
Only one grant will be awarded to any program within one calendar year.
Unfortunately, grants cannot be made to/for the following:
- Individuals
- Political, Fraternal, Religious, or Labor groups
- Organizations or events which are not open to members of the general public
- Endowment Funds
- Fundraising Events
- Deficit Spending or Debt Liquidation
Process
The APPNA Central Office refers grant application requests to the relevant committee. The Committee decides its own timetable to meet for considering applications and recommending grants. Generally all applications are processed within ninety (90) days from the receiving date and applicants are notified about the final decision. Grants are released after the final approval of APPNA Executive Committee.
