APPNA's response to Indonesian earthquake

APPNA responds to Indonesian earthquake

As a responses to the latest earthquake in Indonesia an emergency conference call of the Disaster Relief/Social Welfare Project Committee was called on Tuesday May 30. Dr. Rashid Piracha, President APPNA also attended. It was decided that previously collected funds for tsunami relief, some of which were transferred to Hidaya Foundation for building a hospital there but so far not used, be redirected for immediate relief in the new earthquake area. APPNA’s total contribution will be around $80,000 and Hidaya foundation is matching it with $100,000.

Dr. Afzal Arain from DR/SWP committee will lead the effort on behalf of APPNA (God bless him). He will be meeting in Jakarta by Mr. Waseem Baloch CEO of Hidaya foundation and president of Indonesian Red Crescent, since he is already in Pakistan for relief work there. They will also be meeting by the chair of Indonesian Red Crescent who will coordinate this effort. Let us all pray that in our capacity as Muslims and Human beings we can help our brothers and sisters in desperate need in Indonesia.

We might have to ask for more help from our APPNA family, God bless you all.

Sincerely,
M.Javed Akhtar,MD,Chairman,
SWDR Committee APPNA.
